Rock Rapids, Iowa — Work continues on a new $5 million clinic and outpatient facility in Rock Rapids.

Sanford Health operates the current hospital and clinic in Rock Rapids and the lease expires on that facility in 2019 — so Sanford Health has purchased some land in northwest Rock Rapids, and this spring, the ground was broken for the new facility.

Ken Mettler, who is Sanford’s Construction Services Project Manager, tells us that they are on schedule for a March 2019 completion.

He tells us what people can see as they drive by on Highways 9 & 75.

Mettler clues us in what to look for in the coming weeks and months.

He says that in addition to family practice and outpatient services, they will also offer walk-in service to those that need it; rehabilitation services including speech, occupational, and physical therapy; and many more services that are not typical in a small clinic.

Meanwhile, in the southwest part of Rock Rapids, another medical facility is being built. Avera Health and the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital Board’s contractors are building a new hospital and clinic that is also hoped to be open next spring.
