Northwest Iowa — The Democrat who wants to replace Steve King as 4th District Iowa representative in the U.S. House will be holding town hall meetings in northwest Iowa this week.
According to J.D. Scholten’s campaign, Scholten will bring his “Don’t Forget About Us” town hall meetings to towns with populations of less than 1,000 people in each of the district’s 39 counties.
In our immediate area, Scholten will hold one of these town hall meetings Thursday at 5:00 pm at the American Legion Community Center in Ashton, in Osceola County. Following that meeting Scholten will travel to Doon, in Lyon County, where he’ll hold another town hall meeting at 7:15 Thursday evening.
Saturday morning Scholten will begin his day with a town hall meeting at the O’Brien County Courthouse Assembly Room in Primghar, beginning at 10:00 Saturday morning, before heading to Everly in Clay County for a 1:15 meeting at the Hap Ketelsen Community Center.
Scholten is seeking the 4th District U.S. House seat currently held by Republican Steve King. Scholten is the lone Democrat running for that seat. This is the second time he’s run for the 4th District seat. in 2018 Scholten ran against King in the general election. King prevailed in that contest, but only by a three-percent margin.
