Doon, Iowa — Multiple accidents happened near the town of Doon on Wednesday and Thursday morning, according to Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep.

While the details of all the accidents are not in yet, we do have information about one of them.

A Canton man’s passenger was taken to a hospital after a crash in that area. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that it happened in the 2400 block of 240th Street (A42), about a mile north and about four miles west of Doon.

They report that their investigation determined that 18-year-old Jason Koedam of Canton, SD, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra westbound on 240th Street when road conditions caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

They tell us the vehicle entered the north ditch and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Hegg Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.

The GMC was considered a total loss.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Doon Rescue.
