The Sheldon Police Department reports that they took the report of theft by deception on Thursday, January 3rd — but it actually happened between December 5th and 12th.
The police arrested 42-year-old Robert Lee DeBoer of South Dakota and charged him with three counts of Fifth Degree Theft, which is a simple misdemeanor. There are two addresses listed for DeBoer on the report — one in Colton, SD, and one in Crooks, SD.
Sheldon officers allege that DeBoer wrote checks on a closed account and got away with merchandise totaling $280. He was cited and released.
