Northwest Iowa — In an effort to reduce the number of traffic fatalities on Iowa roadways, the State of Iowa has formed a task force to try and find solutions to the problem.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull tells us about the new task force.

Trooper Krull talks about the number of deaths on Iowa roadways so far in 2021.

He says one of the problems contributing to the high number of traffic deaths is excessive speed.

Trooper Krull says motorists can help keep the fatality numbers down by doing something as simple as buckling your seatbelt every time you’re in the vehicle.

The Trooper says distracted driving is still a major factor in crashes, as it impaired driving. In fact, he says, there is a special OWI enforcement period coming up.

Trooper Krull made his comments on Thursday morning’s KIWA Morning Show.
