George, Iowa — George Freedom Days are coming up over the Independence Day weekend in George. One of the events is an exercise and athletic opportunity, but it’s also an opportunity for you to support recreational trails.

Kristi Landis of George is one of the people in charge of the George Freedom Days Fun Run, and she tells us about it.

Landis gives us some details about the 5K run.

She says there are a number of brackets people will compete in.

She says it’s called a “fun run,” but you may certainly walk all or a part of it too. She says that’s a great way to contribute to the event and to the George trail program.

Again, the run will be held on Saturday, July 3 at 8:00 a.m. with packet pick-up encouraged the evening of Friday, July 2. The cost to participate
is $25 if registered before June 19. For more information, call or text 712-348-0778 or e-mail at freedomdaysrun@gmail.com. Participants can also register at runsignup.com. She says there is also race-day registration, but there’s no guarantee that they will have enough shirts left that you would still get a shirt if you register on race day.
